Hey peeps! Looking for the right coaching institute for your GATE entrance exam preparation?
But confused, which one to choose?

Settle down and stay calm. Here we are to help you select the right coaching institute. GATE being one of the toughest entrance exam in India requires meticulous planning and preparation. But planning and preparing under expert’s guidance help students achieve each milestone leaving no stone unturned.

Hence, you need to consider few factors before joining the coaching institute for GATE exam preparation.

1. FACULTY

Half battle is won if the faculty is good. Students can stay on their toes with a calm mind if they have a good mentor to guide them throughout the GATE preparations. It is advisable to look for the institutes which have experienced faculties say from IIT/IISc, had been a GATE topper along with newly qualified professional.

Experienced faculties easily understand the problems students face and proffer quick solutions whereas new faculty introduces modus operandi of deciphering questions. Hence, talk to ex-students and seniors to check upon the

faculties:

  • Their teaching methodology
  • faculty’s attitude towards the process of learning
  • if they maintain optimum speed while teaching and
  • if they update their class notes with changing exam trends (research how many questions have been asked in the past from their notes)

2. RESOURCE AND MATERIAL

More you grab, more you step ahead towards your goal. Check out what all resources such as reading library, students can have access or the kind of reference material you get once you join the institute.

3. CURRICULUM

Just completing the syllabus is not worthy. Curriculum should be outlined in such a manner that:

  • There is abundant time for revision at the end
  • Syllabus should be relevant to the exam syllabus
  • Each class should be followed by small breaks so that students can concentrate on the next without getting exhausted.
  • Teaching tempo is maintained without any hush-hush considering each student’s capability.

Make sure institute covers the updated syllabus as GATE syllabus tend to change every year.

4. TUITION FEES

Fees of coaching institutes are touching sky these days, and it is not everyone’s cup of tea to bear these fees. Before you finalize the GATE classes, compare the fees of different institutes and facilities they are offering. Thus, check out the best institutes available where you think you can gain from what you pay.

5. DEMO CLASSES

Demo classes gives clearer insight of the teaching method of the faculties. So if you get a chance to attend demo classes of different institutes, grab the opportunity and then finalize.

6. DOUBT CLARIFICATION

Doubts will surely arise if you study carefully and practice. Hence, just learning and practicing is not enough. You need to analyze the mistakes made and get the doubts cleared through the faculties. Hence, check out the institutes whether they hold a doubt clearing sessions timely. If the institute is doing so, then bang-on, as deficit of doubt-clarification may delude the students.

7. INFRASTRUCTURE

Infrastructure plays a crucial role in studies. As it can help students concentrate in their studies or it can hamper their studies. Check if the classes are

  • spacious to accommodate large number of students
  • acquainted with latest technology
  • if the visibility is good from each corner for each student
  • If the lectures are nicely audible.

8. MOCK TEST SERIES

‘Practice gives skill’. Hence, more you practice more efficiently you will clear GATE exam. The institute that arranges mock test series and further discusses it follows the right of helping students clear the GATE exam with an ease.

9. CREDIBILITY

Credibility of the institute explains everything. Whether it is about their expertise in the field, teaching methodology, authentication of the GATE results and much more. Students can research about the credibility by connecting with their ex-students, checking on the testimonials or from social media platforms.

10. TRAVELLING AND RELOCATION

Time is precious, do not waste it rather utilize it in reading an extra topic. Joining a class far from home not only squander’s time but deteriorates the energy too leading to loss of concentration.
Hence, join the classes near to your place or relocate yourself near to the class.

FINAL THOUGHT

Hard-work and dedication are two keys for success but right kind of guidance can help them push their limits and bring out best from them further getting in to the desired college.

Mentors at GATEFLIX not only clear the student’s concepts but direct student’s potential into the right track. Enabling them to come out with flying colours. For further enquires, call at +91 6262062627 or mail us at support@gateflix.in

Starting early always has an added advantage as students get more time to complete as well as revise the syllabus.

At times, due to time constraints, students may skip one or two topics that may come in the exam leading to marks deduction.

Thus, there is no right time to start. Students should start preparing for GATE 2022 as early as possible adhering more time in clearing all concepts, resulting in gaining a good score.

II. STRATEGY

When a student gets to know each and every detail of the examination, the next step is to strategize the preparation. Here we go;

1. Scheduled Preparation

  • Syllabus completion
  • Revision
  • Practicing mock tests

Further, students can bifurcate the topics depending on weak, medium and strong areas. In order to schedule the preparation, the time should be allocated to each topic wisely.

Furthermore, setting up daily, weekly and monthly targets helps in achieving better results for the same amount of effort.

2. Study with Dedication

Just scheduling and not focusing on the topic at a particular time is sheer waste of time. Thus, it is very important that students should put in their best efforts and have dedicated study hours.

It is advisable to take breaks in between as focusing is essential rather than just sitting with books open for long hours.

3. Make Notes

Make short notes that includes important formulas, differences, concepts, or the points that you find difficult to remember.

Prepare revision notes for each topic that covers all the important details of the same.

Keeping these notes handy not only saves students’ time in revising but can be studied anytime keeping everything fresh in mind.

4. Attempt Mock Tests

Find mock test here

5. Analyse Mock Tests

Just attempting and not analysing the mock test leads student nowhere. Analysing is equally important as it succor students know their preparation level (their strong and weak areas).

Analysing the mock tests assist students to work on the areas they lose marks in general.

6. Revise

Studying means learn and forget the process. Thus, revising topics or notes on a daily basis helps you recall the concepts each time. Further, reduce your revision time each time for the same topic.

The more you revise, the more confident you become. Thus, be it a small topic or an entire unit, revise so that you don’t forget anything even when you are under pressure.

It is advisable to attempt 2 to 5 tests each day as this practice helps you revise all the concepts.

7. Clarify your doubts

When students start preparing for GATE, it is quite obvious to have doubts. It is advisable, not to wait for the last moment and get the doubts cleared with your teachers well before time.

III. GUIDANCE

Planned efforts may lead nowhere if a student doesn’t receive proper guidance. Thus, the right guidance helps students move in the right direction!

1. Right Study Material

When a student is focused and has the urge to move towards the goal then the right study material would surely help a student to crack GATE 2022. There is no point in reading 10 books if a student can get all the correct information in just one book.

However, if a student has opted for self-study, they will have to do extensive research before choosing the right study material.

Mock tests are the practice test designed to acquaint students with actual pattern of GATE exam. GATE exam being one of the prestigious exam have various benefits. One of the key benefit is that if the student scores well in the examination, they are likely to choose their college according to their score.

“Practice makes the man perfect”. It is not just a saying, it actually holds a true meaning. Just studying and not practising is sheer waste of time. Hence, more mock tests you attempt, more adept you become.

Appear for series of mock test before actually appearing for GATE exam. This will help you evaluate these:

  • How well are you prepared for GATE exam?
  • Are you able to manage your time efficiently?
  • Which topics you are weak at?
  • Will you be able to revise those topics?
  • Which strategies you should inculcate to overcome your weaknesses?

At GATEFLIX these mock tests are collated by experienced senior faculties. Mock tests improves your confidence and time management skills to perform well.

So, once you start attempting mock tests. What next? What should you do after attempting mock tests?

‘ANALYSE’, is the word as there is no tomorrow to let you gauge the level of your preparation for the GATE exam. Learn from your performance in the mock test so that you can do well in your final verdict; GATE Exam.

Below are the 5 things to do after attempting mock tests:

  • Assess your mistakes
  • Learn about your strengths and try minimizing weaknesses
  • Compare
  • Evaluate your current level of preparation
  • Design a strategy

Let’s exaggerate further:

ASSESS YOUR MISTAKES

When students analyse their mock test performance, they should check:

  • The average time taken to answer each question (whether speed and accuracy are parallel)
  • Assess the areas where they lost marks. Get into the real root cause. Work towards it or ask for expert’s help, if required.
  • Check if the same mistake is repeated frequently.

To firm up the performance meter in the next mock test; do not repeat the same mistakes rather learn from it and do well in the upcoming mock tests or the actual GATE exam.

LEARN ABOUT YOUR STRENGTHS AND TRY MINIMIZING WEAKNESSES

Once the student finishes up with self-analysis, they get to know the areas they need to work-upon and the areas they are good at. To minimize the weaknesses, student should practice more and more simultaneously it will strengthen the good areas towards ‘Excellency’.

COMPARE

‘Comparison keeps student’s spirit high and improves performance.’
A student competes with oneself, if you are able to cross your own score that means you are on the right track of preparation. Hence, monitor your performance, compare it to your previous mock test you had attempted. Thus, make every effort for your betterment.

Additionally, when you get to know the marks, accuracy, time taken and number of questions attempted by the toppers; do make a target for yourself. When you strive harder to achieve that target, it doesn’t mean you want to let down others but you should learn from your mistakes and achieve the target.

EVALUATE YOUR CURRENT LEVEL OF PREPARATION

Students appearing for mock tests gain vital understanding of the GATE exam paper, types or questions asked as well as the marking scheme.

Evaluation is just not restricted to a specific score but a student should know where they went wrong, where did you spent more time than the actual requirement, with which questions you should have started with? Etc.

Revisions are an important part of any preparation. It makes student more efficient with the section being revised. Appearing for a mock test means, standing infront of a mirror which shown where the student actually stands. Thus, it let students know how well they are prepared enough for the GATE exam.

DESIGN A STRATEGY

Strategy that works for others may not work for you. So it is advisable to work and rework on your strategy, until you find the befitting strategy which suits you the best.

To design the strategy, when you assess the solutions of the mock test, start with section-wise analysis first then switch to question wise analysis, finally assess.

Section-Wise Analysis

Scan your section wise score and accuracy, conclude how much time you invested in the particular section and how much you should invest in every section in your next mock test.

TIP: While undertaking a mock test, start with the sections you are more congenial with. As starting with the comfortable section may boost your level of confidence and help you score well in exam.

Question-Wise Analysis

Looking into the past and current mock test scenario, evaluate the time you need to allot to each question type.

Decide how you would start the test:

Strong areas

|

Easy question

|

Difficult questions

|

Time-consuming questions

Assess

  • How many questions you attempted were correct and incorrect?
  • How many questions you left unattended?

If you are able to prepare a systematic time plan, you can use the saved time to solve the more complicated questions.

FINAL THOUGHT

FOCUS, DEDICATION AND UTTER EFFORTS are the three mantras to successfully crack GATE exam.

GATEFLIX offers a series of mock tests that helps students to evaluate self. Make use of it. As the best preparation for tomorrow starts from today. For our expert’s advice, contact us as +91 6262062627 or mail at support@gateflix.in

‘All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us,’ said Tolkien
Time management is an art. Pretty sure, the pandemic must have taught each student to use time wisely especially when online classes hold a strong grip in today’s scenario.

As everything has their own advantages and disadvantages, online classes too have their own benefits, they give flexibility and comfort for studies.

But do you think, are students able to make best use of their time with so much of conformability?

The answer is, ‘YES’!

Now the question arises, are all students able to manage time for GATE Online classes when everyone is too busy with their regular studies and miscellaneous activities?

Students those who prepare a strict plan and follow it religiously achieve their targets easily whereas those who keep dallying studies, lead nowhere.

Each one of us get 24 hours each day to aim for a goal and work towards it. But it is the student’s zeal, strategy or that adrenaline rush that keeps them juggling efficiently between studies and the other glee activities which makes a difference.

But only few students are able to make it, why not others?

In this article, we will learn time management tips for students taking GATE online classes:

  • 1. Set your goal
  • 2. Know the length of your goal
  • 3. Plan, Plan, Plan!
  • 4. Dedicated study space
  • 5. Focus
  • 6. Compete yourself
  • 7. Learn to balance
  • 8. Partake in Doubt Clearing Sessions

Let’s elaborate further:

1. Set your goal

Person without a goal is like a ship without a compass. If students doesn’t have an aim to move ahead, where would they reach out to? Goal determines how to split time efficiently. For instance, if you plan to go for trekking so you just don’t start travelling.

  • First, you plan your dates for travel.
  • Check your navigation tool or a map, to know where you are and where you’re going all times.
  • Pack essentials like enough water, food, safety items.
  • Check your fitness level, wear comfortable clothes, most importantly you plan your time before starting off.

Similar is the case for GATE studies. Until and unless, you aim to crack the GATE exam, you will not understand why and how to manage time for GATE online classes.

2. Know the length of your goal

Until and unless you visualize the road map, you won’t be able to reach your goal. Though, experts are mindful of the syllabus and accordingly design curriculum for the online classes.

But students should also be aware about the syllabus (which serves as the roadmap) of the GATE examination then only you’ll be able to judge the time you need to allocate for each course.

Knowing the length is like knowing the duration of completing the syllabus. This ensures how to prepare a schedule for online classes, how much time you need to assign to self -preparation or any other extra subjects and to the least significant subjects.

3. Plan, Plan, Plan!

‘Meticulous planning will enable everything a man does to appear spontaneous’. Time management is an art that goes hand in hand with planning. Hence, a student should have a proper schedule to attain in order to manage time.

Once you know the syllabus or the road map, you will know how you have to step ahead and approach each topic finally. A student should split time for each topic and list down the scheduled plan. For instance,

  • Allot time for topics related to each subject
  • Newspaper reading
  • Practise Tests
  • Previous year papers
  • Revision

Set a timing for each day for studying, resting etc. While you study, you should set certain rules and a time limit for each topic. This in turn enhances your efficiency and pushes you to achieve the target.

4. Dedicated study space

Sincerity is the key to success. If you think that you can lie down on the bed and study, it is fallacious. Studies show that study area makes a lot of difference. Mind takes time to adjust at a new place due to which students are unable to concentrate.

Studying at a quiet place with proper lightning helps student memorize more efficiently. Study space triggers the mind to attend the regular GATE online classes.

Thus, you need to have your own dedicated and comfortable space for studies including online classes that brings in consistency and keeps you focussed.

5. Focus

Make sure when you study, you do it whole heartedly. If you are unable to concentrate, there is no point for spending hours sitting infront of the laptop or holding books.

Especially when social media and game sites can easily divert one’s attention, student should remain centred and focused. If you cannot concentrate for longer duration at a time, then you can study for 45 minutes at a stretch and then take a break say for 5-10 minutes and then get back to your position, follow the same pattern timely to enhance your efficiency.

6. Compete yourself

One’s biggest opponent is not the other student, it is ‘you’ one should compete to. If you continuously compete yourself you tend to become better. For this, you can check how you were and where have you reached. Ensure that whatever target you set, you achieve it timely.

Reward yourself, if you achieve it (Do not do so, if you haven’t). This practise will push you to work harder and complete the syllabus on time.

7. Learn to Balance

Time can be easily managed for GATE online studies if you know how to balance your studies and other important activities.

This is when, a schedule or a time-table helps you get into the perfect routine. Students need to prioritize the important things such as online studies, reading, self-preparation etc and so their timings.

This not only accustoms you to the system but keeps you focused for the particular work or else the mind is diverted towards other incomplete activities leaving you neither here nor there.

8. Partake in Doubt Clearing Sessions

Students have doubts only when they attend and complete the online classes. So one must allocate time for doubt clearing session too. As it may not only help you decipher your doubts but will make you more confident as and when you get the clarity on the subject.

FINAL THOUGHT

All you need is earnestness and zeal to work towards your goal. Students should learn the art of time management which not only helps them while attending GATE online classes or preparing for the GATE exam but for future too.

Hopefully the above tips help students manage their GATE online classes along with their regular life schedule.

FM = 69 hrs

SOM = 68 hrs

Manufacturing = 77 hrs

TOM = 64 hrs

MD = 40 hrs

HT = 52 hrs

IE = 59 hrs

Extra Workout One Mock with Analysis = 7 hrs 2 Mocks with Analysis = 15 hrs 3 Mocks 3 Mocks
Revise all 8 Subjects = 130 hrs Revise all Subjects = 120 hrs Revision 2 Revision 3
Total Hours 254 357 286 125 140

2. Flow of Studies for Any subject:

  1. Notes
  2. GATE que for past 10 years topic wise
  3. Topic wise test on aspiration.ai
  4. Subject tests on aspiration.ai
  5. Extra practice que + revision of subject

3.How to Make Notes:

  • If you attend lectures of any faculty through GATEFLIX then you can easily make notes. If you haven’t done so, go to online videos to do so. You may also go to Youtube:- Khan academy, Nptel or the latest and most popular are Gateflix videos.
  • Make notes neatly as they will be very very useful while revision in the last 30 days. Use 3 colour pen to indicate important, very important and very very important concepts.
  • Make a separate handbook for formulas. In exams 40% questions are direct formula based or implied formula based. Problem with students is that they tend to mix up formula. If you have this handbook of formula ready and have revised the things at least 2 times , I can guarantee you the 40 % marks.
  • Don’t Xerox someone’s notes because the moment you write yourself then you can memorize the concept for a longer duration.
  • Leave one page Space after 2/3 pages or after every major chapter. This is to ensure that if you come across any vital formula or Information or short trick while referring tests or reference book later then you may place That information in these spaces.

4.How to do a Test Analysis:

  • Any test( Online or offline) need to taken in time frame. There is No point in taking the test without a time Limit.
  • Don’t take any test without revision of Notes of the syllabus covered in the test. It will be a wastage if You just randomly take a test.
  • Once the test time is over, don’t jump to answer Solution . Check the answer key and get To Know your score.
  • Now follow a 3 stage process .

Stage 1: Go to the right ones and check whether you were confident of answering that question . If the answer is “yes” check the solution given in order to see which method was better( yours or the given in Book or online portal ). Adopt the best you like.

Stage 2: Go to questions which you got wrong. Try to fight with the question that why you got it wrong without looking at the solution yet. Try 3 or 4 times by re-reading the question or even refer notes. Maximum time it’s a silly mistake. These silly Mistakes can’t be zeroed but can be reduced by practicing more .Refer notes again if needed. In case you are still not able to click after a lot of Slumber, try to open the solution and check your mistake. If it was a new concept to you, add in the void space you have kept in your notes. This will help to solve similar question again.

Stage 3: Now the turn of questions which are unattempted. This could be due to

  1. Not knowing The concept or due to lack of time. If it was conceptual ignorance , go to your faculty ( many online live class teachers are available , In case you don’t have one)and learn the concept.
  2. It was a lack of time issue try now and solve it. If you are taking a lot of Time try to memorize few steps so that if it appears in exam you will be able to do it fast. Other students might leave such question in exam , But you will probably dare to attempt such and score more.
  • The key to successs in any entrance exam is solve More , analyse more. In each subject you should Solve almost 1000+ questions including past year Actual Exam questions, topic wise test, subject test and mock tests.

5. How To do Revision:

  • Well this is dependent on the way you have prepared notes and how effectively have you done the Test Analysis.
  • Go through the whole cycle again in this revision phase like NOTES >- GATE QUESTIONS >- Topic test >- Subject Test >- Extra questions (if any ).
  • While Revising, don’t solve Each and every question from notes or tests. Try To randomly pick 20 questions from different pages or test( purely random) . If you are able to recall the logic of 16+ then you are good to go ahead. If you are Not able to solve more than 10 questions then it’s a re revision time. Follow step 2.
  • Try to have a bird eye view and See topics on which questions Are asked again and Again. Star mark them for making revision 2 and revision 3 effective.

6.SUBJECT WISE PLAN:
