General Aptitude Section | The GATE paper will also consist of a compulsory General Aptitude (GA) section constituting of 10 questions.

Marking Scheme | MCQs carrying 1 mark each– 1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. MCQs carrying 2 marks – 2/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. * There is no negative marking for Multiple Select Question (MSQ) & Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. |

The negative marking scheme of the GATE 2022 Exam is as follows:
- There will be a deduction of 1/3rd marks for every incorrect answer of MCQs carrying 1 mark.
- There will be a deduction of 2/3rd marks for every incorrect answer of MCQs carrying 2 marks.
- For MSQs (Multiple Select Questions) and NAT (Numerical Answer types), there is no such negative marking scheme.
What is the weightage of each section of the GATE 2022 Exam?
There will be three sections of GATE 2022 Exam, out of which the 1st section Engineering Mathematics carries 13%, 2nd section General Aptitude carries 15% and 3rd Subject Specific section (Core subjects) carries 72% weightage of Total Marks.
